The source photo was collaged together from multiple photographs taken outdoors, The direction of light being the same in all the photos. The resulting fresh and lively portrait was very satisfying to me and to their parents and captures a moment in the lives of three delightful sisters!
Cate is my second granddaughter and like most one-year-olds, in constant motion. I photographed her in her highchair at the table after her mom turned on a Dora video. Even then the best photos were a little blurry. The only light came from a large glass window on her left and slightly in front of her,
Max is the adored grandson of a good friend, an avid photographer - also constantly in motion and often photographed with a flash as a smiling indoor blur . The material for this painting was taken outdoors on a cloudy day in Houston, while Max' mom held him and he was momentarily mesmerized by something and was still.
This is a memorial painting for my friend renee, whose son gilbert, father of shawnda, died in an accident in the arizona desert last summer. His mother had this photograph which had been taken on their back portal a few months before his death. I had looked at it often and decided it could be a wonderful painting, ....and it is.
This portrait of one-year-old richard was created from a digital picture of richard as a single small figure in a big grassy park
Uma is the granddaughter of a Friend - I was given digital pictures by a family friend of hers and chose "uma and the Wind" from one of his many photographs out in the New mexico landscape. The second portrait is from a picture I took for the purpose of this portrait. Her mother was holding her-this was done from the 2nd and only usable one of 37 images
